adding brother dcp-195C USB Printer fails

Post by denis_p »

Hello everyone,

When I try to add that printer through the usual system-config-printer program :
1) unlock the dialog
2) click add printer
3) choose my printer in the left-hand list and click next
a dialog is displayed saying that the program looks for the proper driver, but then nothing happens, the program is stuck on that dialog.

As a workaround, I could add my printer through the CUPS web interface (localhost:631), but there seems to be some bug somewhere with system-config-printer.
I browsed linuxmint github but did not find any relevant category to report to, so I'm reporting here.
If I should report somewhere else, please point me to the right place.
Thanks,
Regards,

Denis

One more information : I tested the same steps on a pure Debian jessie install and it works.
So there must be something changed about printing with LMDE, but what ?

PS : before doing these steps on both distros, I installed dcp195ccupswrapper-1.1.3-1.i386.deb and dcp195clpr-1.1.3-1.i386.deb packages, downloaded from Brother web site.
