nvidia driver hosed my system? <SOLVED>

Postby zeno on Thu Sep 29, 2011 10:27 pm

fresh install of mint 11 debian x64
everything working perfect till i decided to install the nvidia driver from the software manager
it appeared nothing happened, till i rebooted to no graphics.
i'm a linux noob so it took me awhile to even figure out that i could log into the system from that blinking cursor.
so what do i have to do to get my gui back?

fixed it with sgfxi mentioned in this post: viewtopic.php?f=198&t=82547
http://techpatterns.com/forums/about933.html

run the following command string as root user in terminal/console [recommended]:
cd /usr/local/bin;wget -Nc smxi.org/sgfxi;chmod +x sgfxi;sgfxi
