CD Drive Causes PC restart

Hello all,

I have just installed LMDE (1109). Everything seems to function normally except for the cd drive. When I insert a cd the box automatically restarts. This drive was working fine in the previous installation on this box. I have a usb cd drive and it works correctly. I think I have checked all the settings in the bios, etc. and don't see anything suspicious (although I am still new to Linux so I could be missing something).

If someone can give me some help here I would appreciate it.
