bluetooth 2.1+EDR

Hello,
Has anyone figured how to get bluetooth 2.1+EDR working. I am running LMDE 64bit with the latest Liquorix kernel. I am seeing the Bluetooth icon with the red X, as it seems that the Bluetooth device is not being recognized. I also tried with the latest stock kernel.
The system is setup as a dual boot on an Acer laptop. Under Windows 7, pressing FN+F3 brings up a menu to choose what to enable: WIFI and Bluetooth, I can select either one of them. Under LMDE, pressing FN+F3 will simply turn on or off the WIFI.
When I run /etc/init.d/bluetooth, the response shows that bluetooth is running.
