SOLVED: dual boot machine, loss of Net access under LMDE
Posted: Sat Aug 24, 2013 8:15 pm
I have a dual boot machine, LMDE up6 Mate amd64 and Windows 7 HP. With Windows, I can connect to the Net, browse, watch Hulu etc. For the past week, I have not been able to do so with my Linux Mint Debian, although it was working fine previously. I can ping my loopback address successfully, but not Google:
Attached is a screen shot of my System monitor. Something is going on, at low speed, but I don't know what. I ran MintInstall, and I was able to view comments on a package, although it took a long time. I was unable to install any package, however.
What information can I provide that can help narrow down this problem? I notice another post "Strange Router problem" which complains about recent Net connectivity issues. It might be just a coincidence, but is it possible some recent package upgrade has caused this problem? Is there any way Windows could have sabotaged Linux, even though Linux is on a different partition which is not mounted when Windows is running? Or maybe my ISP is suddenly unfriendly to Linux? TIA
