Network connection drops out intermittently

Postby DavidOB on Wed Mar 14, 2012 9:31 pm

I installed LMDE about a month and a half ago. All was well until last week, when the Internet connection began dropping out intermittently. The network outages are usually brief, and they seem to happen more often when I'm running Chromium with a Gmail window open (although that could just be my imagination). The connection seems to work fine when I boot into Ubuntu or Windows. I share the Internet connection with several others, who have also been reporting intermittent problems. However, they only seem to be having problems when my computer is turned on and booted into LMDE.

I have both a wired and a wireless connection, but the problem seems to occur regardless of which is in use. The computer is currently physically plugged into the network and the wireless is turned off (but I can turn it on, with or without unplugging the Ethernet cable, if that would help diagnose the problem).

Any ideas? I'm at a loss.
