LMDE double-wifi connection issues & constant pop-ups!
Posted: Wed May 09, 2012 4:49 pm
Dear All
Greetings from a newbie linuxer. Well done to all working on LMDE, loving it!
However, please could you help me with my connectivity issues. I am constantly getting irritating pop-ups for authentication requests required by my wireless network. I am using LMDE-32 bit 201204 Cinnamon, installed on an external hard disk. I've done a lot of searching but can't seem to find the solution...
For some weird reason, I have two wifis listed: (Is this normal??)
wlan0: Ralink Corp. RT2790 Wireless 802.11n 1T/2R PCIe
wlan1: Ralink 802.11 bg WLAN
wlan0 appears to be causing all the annoying requests, wlan1 seems to be okay. These pop-up requests are regular and constant!
As you can see from the lsusb output (extract) below, I use a D-Link DWL-G122:
Apart from the odd double-wifi problem, the next weird thing is that my conky set up (yes I'm brand new to linux but I'm pleased I already got this far) shows a totally different signal % than the two wifis, wlan0 and wlan1! What the?? (My conky file needed adjusting to point to wlan1 as it previously failed to give results from wlan0).
Could someone please advise me on what to do to:
1. Stop the infinite pop-ups for passwords etc relating to my wifi connection. It is driving me mad!
2. Simplify my wifi to have just one - i see no reason to have two, however I can't erase either of them using the network manager!
3. Get a correct signal % to show on wifi and/or conky!
Thanks in advance!
Christopher
p.s. Here is output using sudo /usr/lib/linuxmint/mintWifi/mintWifi.py, if it helps...........
