maya mate logs on but mint debian 201204 will not

I have a dual boot with windows 7 and mint maya mate also mint debian 201204. I am away from home and logging on to a wireless connection that does not require a password. The windows and maya mate logs on and establishes an automatic repeat log on to the connection but I can not get debian 201204 to log on the smae site. It says it needs a password even though it is a guest site.
Is there a fix I can apply to get Debian to log on?
