Netgear A6200 wi-fi on Linux Mint (LMDE)

Post by jlgalley »

I just converted an old PC to Linux Mint (LMDE), and I am trying to get my Netgear A6200 wi-fi adapter to work on it. I know that this device isn't natively supported in Linux, but I read that users have got it going for Ubuntu and Linux Mint 14. I tried to do the same steps, but haven't had success.

1) I ran the Windows driver CD via WINE and installed the drivers. After copying the driver files to my hard disk, the installer halted with an error about a DLL. "DLL function call crashed: Install.EnumerateDevice." I was expecting this, based on the info on the Netgear forum I linked to above.
2) I tried to use ndiswrapper to install the driver. I got an error that I can't find any information about: couldn't find section "common.prevista.reg"

Code: Select all

jacob@mintyfresh /proc/4924/fd/4/drive_c/Program Files/NETGEAR/A6200/Drivers $ sudo ndiswrapper -i bcmwlhigh5.inf

This error still occurs after I upgraded to LMDE Update Pack 8.

I returned this Netgear card to Best Buy. Done with this inquiry.
