SOLVEDCannot Hook Up To My Wireless LAN

SOLUTION: change Wireless G adapter, the old one was bad. Now on line and working well.
Noobie YoYo again: Needing assistance.
I finally got the latest LMDE (201109) installed and working using Unetbootin. Now I cannot get it to connect to my wireless LAN. Unlike other Mint distros, it will not connect to my Linksys wireless router. When I click the red symbol on the task bar I get a choice of Wired or VPN Connections. If I click VPN Connections, I get the Configure VPN. Now I've obtained my ssid (xxx.xxx.x.x) which is the same as my Bssid. Then I add in my MAC 12 digit number (XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX)
All the fields are filled but only the cancel button is highlighted. The save is not.
What am I doing wrong?

Why is this Mint Debian distro different?? I've gotten Ubuntu 11.04, Mint 11 (Katya) and other Linux distros as well as Windows XP easily installed and on-line.
