how to remove Wireless AdHoc net?

Hi,

I set up a wireless adhoc network that was "shared to other computers" on my laptop. I no longer need it. How do I remove it and know that it's been removed?
I can delete the connection from the wireless tab of the network manager, but have the feeling that this only removes my configuration of how to connect to this network, and not the hosting of the network itself.
