default volume

Each time I reboot the default volume on my speakers drops back to a pretty low level (not sufficiently loud that I hear skype calls coming in). I have to raise the volumne to a decent level every time. Not a massive problem, but would be nice to set a higher level as default. Any guidance from anyone? Not sure what other info you might need about my specific installation... please ask. I can at least state I'm running LMDE 64-bit. Thanks
