Youtube videos buffer/load extremely slowly.

Hi all,

The problem I am seeing is that youtube videos, even at 360p, take between 5 and 10 minutes to buffer. Internet connection speed is not the issue as I am currently pulling ~45mbps. Any ideas? I have a funny feeling this is due to the default flash plugin, but I wanted some opinions and to see if there were any workarounds.

I suspect Youtube is slowing this down on purpose to reduce the load on their systems and to avoid massive downloads. Are they at least loading fast enough to play in real time? It makes sense for them to e.g. prevent you from downloading 10 minutes while you only bother to watch the first 30 seconds.

If my guess is right there is probably nothing you can do about it.

it is youtube; they are 'improving' it... basically they don't care, it is all about the ad money for them
what i do is load all my videos in 240 so i can see if i like them, then download the ones i want in higher resolution
