hey everyone

i have to get to uni now so i don't really have time to chekc if it changed .asoundrc or whatever else.
just dropping in to say: do NOT install that package form the debian repos atm. i just did that and suddenly all sound is gone
as far as i can see in pavucontrol etc nothing has changed in the pulse setup and all other gui things seem to look okay too. when i get back home (or at the latest tomorrow) I'll google a bit and check other sound-configuration stuff and actual setup files and file a bug-report if i find out what it's actually doing.....

I installed it a couple of days ago when I was trying to figure out how to get my new webcam to record sound, and my sound is still working ok. I didn't change any of the settings with it, at least not yet. (It turns out I had to change the input device for sound to record from the webcam mic, it works fine now...)

Did you reboot after installing it or install other stuff at the same time? Are you on 32 or 64 bit lmde? That wasn't the only thing I installed, but at any rate I did install gnome-alsamixer and my sound is working...

no I didn't do anything at the same time. only since then.

I have reconfigured a lot of sound stuff since then so i can't really say anymore what the issue was then - but before i did that i trashed all custom config things i had from before (.asoundrc etc.) and the problem was gone.

oh and CiaW: you are using lmde, right? Because in the main editions gnome-alsamixer never gave me any trouble either

Yes, using lmde 64bit.
