No Sound - LMDE Xfce4

I have STAC9205 sound card - on board snd-hda-intel which comes in Dell Vostro 1500. I am unable to get sound up..Pl help ...Also alsaconf doesnt work!

This seems to be rampant lately. 
Instead of me typing commands let me point you Here. See the last part of the post.
I don't recommend removal of PA as first choice, but mads has a nice tutorial here > Here if you need to do a removal. Wait and see if this is actually the problem first by just disabling PA (pulseaudio).

Thanks Slider... Initially I was thinking it was the model=3stack or some option you had to add to the configuration.. ..I tried to retain PA , but it didnt work (OSS or ALSA)...I nuked Pulseaudio and followed the tutorial..All is well now.. Thanks!
