Browser (flash?) eats up all my CPU

Hello all,

been using LMDE for few months now and I am very happy with it. The one issue that keeps coming up as it would appear is some flash related conflict where every now and than when doing anything more intensive with my browser the CPU usage (the dark blue indicator in the panel system monitor applet) spikes to 100% and the system becomes EXTREMELY unresponsive - i.e. the mouse cursor lags when I try to move it and if I go ctrl+alt+backspace I wait for about a minute or two till it actually restarts gdm... than all is well again.

I have no idea how to approach this problem... much less how to solve it. Had Linux mint 7 on this computer previously and didn't have this issue.

The same behaviour persist with firefox and iron browser.

I removed the mint-flash package and manually installed the latest flash from the adobe site with no effect on the problem.

Same behaviour with metacity and compiz. I am using the official Catalyst 11.3

The system is AMD64 Athlon 3800+ /w 1gig RAM and ATI 4500 graphics card.

Any advice anyone?

I'm an idiot... after months of breaking my head with this problem, I turn on all the system monitor indicators and notice that with all my active services I am at some 95% RAM load and swap is empty... than I notice swap size is 0.... than I notice that for some reason installer configured the wrong partition for swap... simple fstab edit later and it appears I am back to a fully snappy and happy LMDE experience...

This of course happened right after I finally decided to seek help on the forum :)
