limited how to turn my sound up and down

I have a laptop and a creative sound blaster x-fi usb soundcard with mint debian 64 bit i can get sound in and out of my sound card but i am only able to adjust my sound using the speaker icon in the right lover corner (taskbar) and in the media player. When i want adjust my sound with fn + f10 or f11, using the touch panel next to my build in speakers (asus N50Vn) and with the volume button on my sound card i can se the sound going up or down but thers no increase og decrease in sound

Is there a soultion to my problem ?

Works fine with mint 11 64 bit
