[SOLVED] No sound in Firefox (not only flash)

What doesn't work:
- sound in firefox - youtube flash
- sound in firefox - youtube html5
- sound in firefox - wikipedia ogg

What works:
- sound in banshee
- sound in smplayer
- sound in xonotic
- ...

Using:
LMDE 64-bit (Update Pack 3)
firefox 9.0.1
Sound via GF 520 HDMI

I tried to follow every tutorial I have managed to find regarding sound in flash or firefox, but I found, that either the fixes they propose are already applied to LMDE or the fixes did not help me.
It seems that the problem is not about flash itself, as even webpages not using flash do not have sound.
When I open my sound preferences I can see all applications using sound except firefox.
Does anyone have any hints?

I'm having the same issue with 64-bit Linux Mint 12. I can't play audio in Firefox, Chromium, or Opera (My MOG subscription feels pretty useless right now lol). But it works fine in Clementine and VLC. The audio just never plays, it'll look like it's loading but never actually gets above 0 seconds on playback. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I finally managed to solve the problem myself.
After running Firefox from console and trying to play something I got:

Code: Select all

ALSA lib dlmisc.c:236:(snd1_dlobj_cache_get) Cannot open shared library /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/alsa-lib/libasound_module_pcm_pulse.so
Installing libasound2-plugins solved the problem.
