Select with Ctrl+Shift+Right/Left or /Up/Down

Recently I switched to LMDE from LM12 and I'm nearly delighted, but a few irritative missings do poison my life. Guys, please help me - and it will be useful for many of us!

1. How to enable (or establish) the text-editing shortcut to select the whole word Ctrl+Shift+Right/Left?
2. How to enable (or establish) the text-editing shortcut to select the whole paragraph Ctrl+Shift+Up/Down?

I need them every minute!
