How to install Gimp 2.8 for the not so experienced

This is a quick write up for some of the not so experienced LMDE users. Before you follow this be sure to backup sources.
The following commands should be pasted into your Terminal emulator (ex: xterm, mate-terminal).
Backup your sources
Replace your sources
/etc/apt/sources.list
Press CTRL+X and type "Y" to save
Install Gimp 2.8
Type "Y" to accept the changes
Once it is finished reverse the sources
/etc/apt/sources.list
and updating again to refresh package list
Press CTRL+X and type "Y" to save
In the event you need to restore your sources before you following this or if your system is broken
The following commands should be pasted into your Terminal emulator (ex: xterm, mate-terminal).

sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.list /etc/apt/sources.list.backup
Code: Select all
sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
Code: Select all

Install Gimp 2.8
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install --reinstall gimp
Once it is finished reverse the sources
Code: Select all
sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
Code: Select all
