HOWTO: Banshee Sound Menu Integration in LMDE

1 ) Install indicator-applet

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install indicator-applet


*You can remove indicator-messages

Code: Select all
sudo apt-get -y remove indicator-messages


2 ) Download banshee-extension-soundmenu package and right-click install with Gdebi.

banshee-extension-soundmenu 32 bit

banshee-extension-soundmenu 64 bit

3 ) Download indicator-sound package and right-click install with Gdebi.

indicator-sound 32 bit

indicator-sound 64 bit

4 ) Launch Banshee and head up to Edit => Preferences
Choose the Extensions tab
Enable Sound Menu integration for Banshee

5 ) Right-click on Gnome panel and choose Add Panel.
Choose Indicator Applet and click Add button.

6 ) Press Alt+F2 and run gnome-session-properties.
Deselect Volume Control (gnome-volume-control-applet)

This feature must be default on LMDE

Doesn't work for me because indicator-sound package depends on libdbusmenu-glib3 (not glib4). Generally, it looks like a bad idea to deal package files explicitly (i.e. bypassing repositories). Any other solutions?
