Linux Mint Debian Edition User Guide
Hello everybody
Today i announce the release of a Linux Mint Debian Edition User Guide.
This User Guide is suitable to all new LMDE users that are searching for a comprehensive documentation about the Debian version of Linux Mint.
As you can see in the main page, almost all LMDE sectors are covered for an easy system try of a 'Live' session, installation, tuning, and customization.
I hope that i had made a good job.

Re: Linux Mint DeBian Edition User Guide
Impressive. I like the way it looks like the control panel. Wonderfully done.

Hi borgio 3
I have briefly scanned with just a few subjects
I am very impressed with your efforts and what already available.
good work. keep it up.
Re: Linux Mint DeBian Edition User Guide
That's brilliant, I like both the layout and the content very much.
I always thought there should be a guide for LMDE too, thank you borgio3.

Re: Linux Mint DeBian Edition User Guide
Wow, how cool is that?
Was it your idea to use gnome's control centre layout? This seems totally useful and cool to me.
Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition User Guide
Thanks for making this! I recently got a laptop with LMDE on it so it's definitely going to come in handy. At the risk of being a pain, is there any chance we could get an offline version? I know I'm going to forget about this if it's buried in my Chromium bookmarks.
Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition User Guide
Thanks for all the time and effort it took to create this guide. I think it will be very helpful for many people out there, myself included..
Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition User Guide
That's great work , thank you. I have a feeling this may come in very handy.
Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition User Guide
You can create an offline version by yourself, by just downloading the website.BostonPeng wrote:At the risk of being a pain, is there any chance we could get an offline version? I know I'm going to forget about this if it's buried in my Chromium bookmarks.
Open a terminal and navigate to a folder of choice, e.g. your desktop:
Code: Select all
cd ~/Desktop # 'cd' is change directory; '~' is short for your home directory
Code: Select all
wget --recursive --level=4 --convert-links http://livelinux.altervista.org/Guida_LMDE/index_en.html
To view the guide's frontpage, open livelinux.altervista.org/Guida_LMDE/index_en.html.
You can usually create a shortcut to the file by drag-and-drop'ing it to a panel.
Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition User Guide
Sweet! I had completely forgotten about using wget to snag an entire website. I'm getting it in my Downloads folder as I type. As far as a bookmark goes, I already have it in my Chromium Bookmarks Toolbar but I usually keep the bar hidden to save screen real estate.
Make that two rounds I owe you.
/me wishes there were a LIKE! button on posts like the Ubuntu Forums had/has (it's been a while since I've gone there so I don't know what the current status is)

Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition User Guide
Fantastic! Not do i only have a magnificent distro to recommend newbies (LMDE), but now i can also direct them to this superb guide.
Right now, however, it really needs proof-reading from fluent English speakers.
Also, is it possible to make a .deb package out of it and make it accessible locally? Like Debian does with 'doc-central'. It would be great if i could advise a user to install a package called 'doc-lmde-guide' (or such) and view it with the exact design.

Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition User Guide
I'll try to do some proofing in a bit. Once some replenished craziness it whittled down again.
Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition User Guide
Can't seem to load livelinux.altervista.org/Guida_LMDE/index_en.html
... not even livelinux.altervista.org/
Is there another place where the User Guide might be?

Check out Evernote. (chrome extension, firefox addon)BostonPeng wrote:I know I'm going to forget about this if it's buried in my Chromium bookmarks.
borgio3, it looks great! I'm also happy to help with translation and proofreading. Is there a repository we can fork?
Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition User Guide
Thanks for the suggestion, I don't use apps like that. It would just be one more thing to keep track of on my system.
Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition User Guide
How does one get this user guide?? As above the links have been broken for days
Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition User Guide
That's odd. I just hit the link with no problem, Anthrogue.
Re: Linux Mint Debian Edition User Guide
The link works for me too. Try "incognito mode" in your browser to get a clean cache, maybe, and be sure you aren't blocking outbound traffic to 178.63.8.150.
See michelsberg's post: wget will tell you about the failure.
