Why the move to Sid?

The latest upgrade worked for a day, then I loaded some updates and the screens disappeared. I couldn't fix GDM so I downloaded the XFCE desktop which runs, but I still have to go through CLI and tty to get the system up and running. Prior to that, I could not connect wirelessly and still cannot. Oh well.

You guys should have stayed with Debian stable branch. In fact, stick with original Mint. I downloaded 13 Mate edition the other day and it is a gem! Also, the guy running SolousOS (I think he worked for you guys) has a great Debian OS there. I've been tinkering with that the past month and it is awesome.

I hope you guys fix your Debian issues. I think I'll have to pass though, sorry....too many bugs here.

Good Luck!

Default LMDE repos do not point to Debian sid or Debian testing. If you upgraded to sid it was because you changed your sources.list.

That said sid is fine if you know what you are doing. My oldest install was originally installed back in 2004, with daily apt-get update; apt-get dist-upgrade since then.

ah... they are staying with Mint (based on Ubuntu). LMDE are (read manual/version notes) are for users that want a little more adventuresome distro.
LMDE is not based on "SID' (thats the debian unstable branch  ) LMDE is based on testing :o and with the Update Pack concept its more like using the debian 'backports' repo or a version that can update between packs (thats basically what Ubuntu and Debian does, they just have a better defined version release schedule.

And you like Solus... its made by the same guy that made LMDE originally (Ikey). Interesting.
