Performance improvements after Update 5?

Postby sackofspuds on Sun Sep 23, 2012 3:36 pm

Does anyone else share my opinion that performance seems a bit better after Update 5? I do nothing cpu intensive but applications seem to be loading faster, whole interface seems snappier.

Using vanilla gnome 3 - no cinnamon.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Yes ...

seem use less RAM and a little less CPU
The Boot Time (what 'I' think is a high priority) is a lot better. Still slower than Xubuntu (not fast linux either), but on desktop (less booting more just sitting login/logout) not as important as if a laptop or tablet (booting/powering on off more).

My Observations

Edit I forgot was using different computer last time using LMDE-Xfce  Ram , CPU load, and Boot roughly same as UP4. Took Stats from (Fresh) install from latest ISO (64 bit), and then after UP5 upgrade. NO Change. :x
