Any ideas as to why this is happening?
Edit: Somehow, when I right-clicked the nm-applet in the tray, selected "Edit Connections", selected the "Wireless Security" tab, changed the selected index of the Authentication drop-down box from "Open System" to "Shared Key", restarted nm-applet, changed the selected index back to "Open System" (since it didn't work with the "Shared Key" option selected) and re-entered my wifi password in the Wireless Security tab (because it was cleared for some reason); my wifi connection worked properly.
I'll check to see if this weird 'fix' is consistent after a reboot.
Edit2: Confirmed, this is fixed.
