Evolution 3.4.4-1 generates Segmentation fault on startup

Post by ttblum »

Hello,

After upgrading to evolution 3.4.4-1 during a recent update, evolution now generates a Segmentation fault every time I try to launch it now. I've removed all my home folder config files, but the problem persists. I am running XFCE. My sources.list is:

deb http://packages.linuxmint.com/ debian main upstream import
deb http://mirror.metrocast.net/linuxmint-debian/latest testing main contrib non-free
deb http://mirror.metrocast.net/linuxmint-d ... t/security testing/updates main contrib non-free
deb http://mirror.metrocast.net/linuxmint-d ... multimedia testing main non-free

What has happened?

dmesg is showing:

[4752544.643631] evolution[29760]: segfault at 35 ip 00007f7a9f9ddc45 sp 00007ffffe08d8a8 error 4 in libc-2.13.so[7f7a9f8be000+180000]

I have tried changing XFCE's theme to greybird, no change yet. So far this isn't happening to any other applications.

After rebooting, then needing to update my proprietary AMD Radeon driver (due to running a new kernel), then switching to use GNOME Classic instead of XFCE, Evolution now launches OK.

This also cleared up a color scheme issue I was previously having with Evolution:
