Apart from its consistent refusal to print I have been really pleased with LMDE and thought that I had found my ultimate Linux solution. I was so excited earlier today to see that UP7 was available. I read all the notes and afterwards the download/update went really smoothly.
Unfortunately when the machine is restarted I am able to log in, close the welcome screen and move the pointer around the screen; that's it - right and left clicks do nothing and no programmes (eg firefox) run.
I have rebooted several times and have now left it to its own devices in the hope that it will repair itself !!!
Maybe I was too keen to acquire UP7 and it seems at the moment that I will have to reinstall from my original ISO disc and stick with UP6 (sans printing.)

it seems that you have a bug with gtk. you can try to use adwaita theme to fix it. you can also visit testing breakage thread to get more info about it
