UP7 no nemo at all just black screen

Well i broke it
I did not read the instructions and just pressed update to UP7 and bam now nothing opens.
anything that needs a file manager only displays a black screen (whenever I try and open any folder all I get is a black screen)
tried to open the terminal got a black screen, tried synapics, got a black screen, tried control center and got a black screen.
gimp opens though
good ole gimp buddy of mine, always faithful and true no matter what usually.
also firefox and thunderbird opens as well, but no file manager at all just deep dark blackness
So anyone know how to fix this mess and if I need the terminal how the heck do I get to it now
software manager opens also.
any help would be appreciated before I reinstall this sucker which I would rather avoid.

grr ok this don't make sense, I can open the root terminal and from there type in nemo and it opens up in root only but still nothing at all from the main desktop screen for nemo, scratching my head on this one.

have you try to change the theme to adwaita? it sometimes work.

yup first thing I tried and nope lol.
Just upgrading again from a fresh install right now to see how that works
hopefully I can get my desktop back.
