so, this is probably a bug in UP 7.

I just notice that home ./fonts is there.

wait... I think I solved this issue.

I reinstalled again the fontconfig packages. Then I added this line to the file fonts.conf:

Code: Select all
   <dir>/home/xfrank/.fonts</dir>

And also <dir>/xfrank/.fonts</dir>
Now the "missing" fonts are recognized by the system! :P

Well, I'm not an expert either. :lol: I solved this issue by trying, following my logic and with the help of some forumists. The last steps to fix all is in this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=219&t=147064

In the end, my advice is to reinstall several times by synaptic the fontconfig packages. Reinstall the windows core fonts. Install the font bitstream vera. And, most important, check the fonts.conf file in the etc/fonts directory. Compare this file with mine (is ok now):

Code: Select all
 <?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE fontconfig SYSTEM "fonts.dtd">
<!-- /etc/fonts/fonts.conf file to configure system font access -->
<fontconfig>

<!--
   DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE.
   IT WILL BE REPLACED WHEN FONTCONFIG IS UPDATED.
   LOCAL CHANGES BELONG IN 'local.conf'.

   The intent of this standard configuration file is to be adequate for
   most environments.  If you have a reasonably normal environment and
   have found problems with this configuration, they are probably
   things that others will also want fixed.  Please submit any
   problems to the fontconfig bugzilla system located at fontconfig.org

   Note that the normal 'make install' procedure for fontconfig is to
   replace any existing fonts.conf file with the new version.  Place
   any local customizations in local.conf which this file references.

If you find any difference with yours, probably the system can't read correctly this file. To find errors, open the terminal and write: fc-match sans

You can try to rename fonts.conf to fonts.conf.old. Then reinstall fontconfig packages, restart the pc, rename again fonts.conf.old to fonts.conf (fontconfig don't generate a new file), clean the font cache (fc-cache -f -v), restart the pc again. This can fix the "system don't see the installed fonts anymore" issue.

If you have any specifical issue, post it here or in a new thread. :)

For anyone who arrives here by searching for this particular error (or similar), see this blogpost which should provide a solution: http://cixtor.com/blog/fontconfig-warning
