no booting after Kernelupdate

Postby kitchens on Thu Feb 13, 2014 9:03 am

Hello,
I've installed the newest Version of LMDE including MATE Desktop. After installing I updated the system and also updated the kernel to the 3.11-2-686-pae (I have a intel core duo inside this samsung R40 plus, maybe it's worth mentioning that it also houses a ATI Radeon XPress 1250). Now after updating grub the system starts until the message comes: MP-BIOS BUG 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC. Then nothing happens. I've already tried using noapic as an option. Then the message is not seen anymore but it does not boot as well.
However it still boots the older kernel (still WITH the 8254 bug)!
What can I do?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

it's seems the new kernel is not compatible with the system. you have to use the old kernel until they fix the bugs.
