error while removing mintdesktop

aptitude remove mintdesktop
The following packages will be REMOVED:
mintdesktop
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 1 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 0B of archives. After unpacking 127kB will be freed.
(Reading database ... 127691 files and directories currently installed.)
Removing mintdesktop ...
/var/lib/dpkg/info/mintdesktop.prerm: 32: cannot create /etc/gdm/PostLogin/mintDesktop.tmp: Directory nonexistent
dpkg: error processing mintdesktop (--remove):
subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 2

Why are you trying to 'remove' the Mintdesktop?

What are you trying to do 'exactly'? We need more details.

I just do not need it. Trying to make it as light as possible, removing unneeded services and packages. It's a small programm to configure desktop settings, not metapackage with mint tools..

got the same error on upgrading LMDE (sid) today.
Fixed with creating a symlink /etc/gdm pointing to /etc/gdm3
and coping /etc/gdm3/PostLogin/Default.sample to /etc/gdm3/PostLogin/Default
