Will give it a go after I walk the dog :) Must burn a clonezilla cd, I downloaded it, but haven't had chance yet. Can I backup from the LMDE DVD and save a CDR?

1) Enjoy your walk, give the dog a 'WOOF' from me

2) Totally don't understand your question.
a) why would you want to back up an lmde dvd? If you have an lmde dvd then just boot from it. It doesn't need backing up.
b) even if you were determined that this was a good idea, which it isn't, how are you going to persuade a dvd to fit on a cdr? Clonezilla has compression for sure, but it images partitions and drives not dvd's, it doesn't even look for disc drives, only partitions.

I guess I am missing something crucial here :?

Yep (or woof), can I use the DVD instead of the Clonezilla CD (that I haven't burned yet). Are the programs I need on the DVD or only on the Clonezilla iso. Hope that makes sense.

xircon, i guess you are missing something about clonezilla, check this how-to (won't say it's the best, but gives you an idea how it works) http://geekyprojects.com/cloning/how-to ... -tutorial/

Did an update today on the ffmpeg, all the updates finally came in, very nice to see and the video sites that didn't work while it was broken now work again.
Thank you :D

Did an update on sept 8, when i rebooted my dell p4 desktop froze up. I had to unplug the power and remove cmos battery overnight. Finally got it to boot, but haven't used debian mint again, just mint9. This happened once before when i upgraded to 3.0 kernel, but 3.0.1 seemed to fix the problem, I don't know what happened this time, but if you have a p4 processor you may want to hold off on updates for awhile.

Edit: The last problem was actually when i upgraded to 2.6.39 pae kernel. my bad.

Solved $ sudo /etc/init.d/alsa-utils reset

The update this morning, Sat Sep 10, completely broke my sound.
Before the update I was able too play both audio CD's and DVD movies and after the update neither will produce sound although the movie video plays and the timer works in banshee
I don't see anything that is obviously related to sound in the update

Anyone with an ATI gfx card know if it's safe to update libglew1.6 yet? I've updated everything else but held that one back. Everything else working so far.

Hi all,

Editing a small ogg file with audacity is very slow, what used to be done in a few seconds now take 25 minutes or more.

Is there a known solution or should I wait for SP 3 ?

Thanks.

Today, Tue Sept 13, libreoffice was updated. What i found after this update looks (please allow me a german word) beschissen.
Is it java which lets my eyes think the appearance is nothing but terrible? At first i decided to uninstall lo and use abiword instead.
I believe in everything, except humans.

@redk: i assume for what you are saying that you are in latest, if so, there's a few known dep. problems with multimedia atm in latest; what happens when you start audacity from the terminal, does it gives you any error? bare in mind that i don't use audacity, so this is just an assumption based on other issues;

@Gerd, i saw that update, but didn't launch LO after, will have to do it tmrw to see "the beauty"

Hi everyone!

Recently, I installed LMDE 64-bit on an Acer Aspire5102 with an Atheros wirless card. After upgrading the kernel to 2.6.39-2-amd-64, the wireless card stopped working. However, I run the USB live version, it still works. This leads me to believe that the kernel upgrade has an issue. Anybody else have this problem? This machine is set pointing to the "Latest" repository. Since I don't want to risk a complete breackage of the system, I'd rather play it safe and not switch to incoming.

Any help you can provide is very much appreciated.

Can't help specifically, but every time I get a kernel upgrade I have to re-install the Broadcom wireless drivers manually, have you tried re-installing the Atheros drivers manually?

Yes, did that already with ndiswrapper. It worked once, right after installation, and then nothing. For now, I am using a Belkin WiFi stick. It's okay, but the range isn't nearly as good as the built-in card. :? Either way, I hope this will be fixed with the next monthly package. :D

Sorry if I miss something.

I am subscribed to the "latest" repos (exactly the four ones on the previous message) and I did not see yet the update pack number 3. I had thought I would receive a montly update pack but I got nothing since the beginning of August with number two.

I'm having problems holding two packages that are reported to be buggy.
When I do:
Code: Select all
echo "libnetfilter-conntrack3 hold" | dpkg --set-selections
echo "ant hold" | dpkg --set-selections
at least one of them will show up again if i try to dist-upgrade. If I go back and hold it again, then on dist-upgrade the other one appears unhold?
When checking with --get-selections I get this:
Code: Select all
zlaja-desktop zlaja # dpkg --get-selections "libnetfilter-conntrack3"
No packages found matching libnetfilter-conntrack3.
zlaja-desktop zlaja # dpkg --get-selections "ant"
zlaja-desktop zlaja #
One is not found (!?) and the other one gets me no output?

Anyone got any clue what's going on here?

Nobody tracking "latest" has seen update pack 3 yet only those on incoming.

BTW this thread is for testing - confusing isn't it. How new users cope with it I shall never know!
