testing does not get security updates timely [SOLVED]

Just curious. What are your thoughts on running "testing"? From http://www.debian.org/releases/testing/ it says, "Please note that security updates for "testing" distribution are not yet managed by the security team. Hence, "testing" does not get security updates in a timely manner. "

What does this mean for people using LMDE on a daily basis in terms of security? I don't know much about security and just curious. Thank you for your time.

It is more of a security risk to use "testing" rather than "stable".

The more services and applications you have interfacing with the outside world (i.e. Internet), the greater the risk.

Actions you can take to minimize the risk:

Install the latest web browser yourself rather than rely on the ones
in the repositories. There are postings on this forum on how to do that.

If feasible, make sure the Firewall is configured to deny outside
initiated access

Turn off services that you are not using that provide access to your
computer (i.e. Samba).
