My Sudo Broke

Postby ghostdawg on Fri Sep 09, 2011 9:04 pm

Recently when I do a sudo apt-get upgrade command, I get the following message below:

Code: Select all
Reading changelogs... Done
dpkg: warning: 'ldconfig' not found in PATH or not executable.
dpkg: warning: 'start-stop-daemon' not found in PATH or not executable.
dpkg: error: 2 expected programs not found in PATH or not executable.
Note: root's PATH should usually contain /usr/local/sbin, /usr/sbin and /sbin.
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)
A package failed to install.  Trying to recover:
dpkg: warning: 'ldconfig' not found in PATH or not executable.
dpkg: warning: 'start-stop-daemon' not found in PATH or not executable.
dpkg: error: 2 expected programs not found in PATH or not executable.
Note: root's PATH should usually contain /usr/local/sbin, /usr/sbin and /sbin.

Then I just do a su - and type password and it will upgrade/update without further issue. Is my sudo broke? If so, how can I fix it?

Thanks.

Some people say to always accept the new sudoers file but having been unable to become root after doing so, I no longer do.
I had to use a rescue live CD to replace it with my old one. Glad I have the habit of saving a copy of files I change.
But this bit me too.
Get Dropbox and an extra 250 mb http://db.tt/wAizqw0

jeffreyC, i usually don't accept the new conf. files (specially related with sudo) and didn't either this time , but anyway it broke, i ended up with a sudoers like this viewtopic.php?f=141&t=67502&start=1120#p469221, so something was very wrong in this sudo update
