Menu weirdness

Postby 8oluf7 on Mon Sep 19, 2011 7:35 am

I am running LMDE on an IBM ThinkCentre S50 and an IBM ThinkPad (T40 with an R51 motherboard). The desktop is fine, but the first time I click on 'Menu' on the laptop, I get nothing but the grey rectangle. No icons; the click-sensitive areas are present - but invisible i.e. clicking on the rectangle causes an application to open. Click away and retry - and the icons appear.

Any suggestions as to how to fix this irritation gratefully received.

I have installed Update Pack 3 on the laptop. It appears to be running well, but it didn't fix this problem.

Similar issue here on my MSI Wind U100 netbook. In my case clicking the Mint Menu icon the first time brings up a completely invisible, transparent menu; I can tell that it's open only because of the compositing shadow around it. When I click the menu closed and then open it a second time, it displays normally.

Running Update Pack 3 as per the instructions here:
