Code: Select all
#apt-get dist-upgrade
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Calculating upgrade... Done
The following packages have been kept back:
  xserver-xorg xserver-xorg-core xserver-xorg-input-evdev xserver-xorg-input-synaptics
  xserver-xorg-input-wacom xserver-xorg-video-apm xserver-xorg-video-ark xserver-xorg-video-ati
  xserver-xorg-video-chips xserver-xorg-video-cirrus xserver-xorg-video-fbdev xserver-xorg-video-i128
  xserver-xorg-video-i740 xserver-xorg-video-intel xserver-xorg-video-mach64 xserver-xorg-video-mga
  xserver-xorg-video-neomagic xserver-xorg-video-openchrome xserver-xorg-video-r128
  xserver-xorg-video-radeon xserver-xorg-video-rendition xserver-xorg-video-s3
  xserver-xorg-video-s3virge xserver-xorg-video-savage xserver-xorg-video-siliconmotion
  xserver-xorg-video-sis xserver-xorg-video-sisusb xserver-xorg-video-tdfx xserver-xorg-video-trident
  xserver-xorg-video-tseng xserver-xorg-video-vesa xserver-xorg-video-vmware
  xserver-xorg-video-voodoo
I'm using the nvidia_290xx driver. This is probably something I missed. Does something new replace all these? Can they be removed? They've been in limbo for a long time, but I've ignore them. IN or OUT?

feffer,
see if this topic viewtopic.php?f=190&t=92351&hilit=+libpixman gives you some answers (looks like the same problem)

thx, zero-zero
So based on your links, I temporarily changed apt sources.list to allow unstable, updated and did
Code: Select all
apt-get install -t unstable libpixman-1-0
After that I changed sources back to testing, updated again and all the xserver-xorg stuff would now update. Don't know if this is a permanent fix, but good for now.

the libpixman blockage is solved, i believe that it won't cause any other side effects (the major problem you was faced here: replace an ubuntu lib with a proper debian one)

hope all the rest goes well 8)
