hi
I just switched back to incomming and did the upgrade thing that zerozero metioned and it had no problems doing it. my problem is that it does not boot up onto the windows type screen but stays in a shell, I think thats what you call. how do I get it to boot up into the gnome screen that I am used to or do I have to revert to my usual thing of a complete reintall. by the way I am on windows to put this message in. hope this post is in the right place

Re: upgrade problem ( i think )
It seems a problem with your NVIDIA drivers
Try
then
and then
Finally, reboot
Try
Code: Select all
sudo apt install nvidia-kernel-dkms nvidia-glx build-essential nvidia-settings nvidia-xconfig
Code: Select all
sudo nvidia-xconfig
Code: Select all
sudo dpkg-reconfigure nvidia-kernel-dkms

Hi escolar
Well i ran your three commands in the order stated and got the following replies
1 nvidia-glx xserver-xorg-video-nvidia dependencies not met not installed
2 nvidia-xconfig command not found
3 reconfigure not found
sorry it did not work. if all else fails I will do a complete reinstall

Re: upgrade problem ( i think )
Well, I think you have not installed Nvidia drivers, although I don't know why your pc can't resolve dependencies to install them.
I hope another person can help you with drivers installation, because I'm not an expert.
