Wow. How did you manage to get bug reports?

But I wouldn't give to much notice if you have the official repositories. http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=1836
There are many bugs on everything. There wouldn't be a release if they would break your system.

,,,,,,,,,,,,

apt-listbugs

Its in the repos.
Package: apt-listbugs (0.1.6)

tool which lists critical bugs before each apt installation

apt-listbugs is a tool which retrieves bug reports from the Debian Bug Tracking System and lists them. Especially, it is intended to be invoked before each upgrade/installation by apt in order to check whether the upgrade/installation is safe.

Many developers and users prefer the unstable version of Debian for its new features and packages. apt, the usual upgrade tool, can break your system by installing a buggy package.

apt-listbugs lists critical bug reports from the Debian Bug Tracking System. Run it before apt to see if an upgrade or installation is known to be unsafe.

Code: Select all

gene@zordon:~$ apt-cache policy apt-listbugs
apt-listbugs:
  Installed: 0.1.6
  Candidate: 0.1.6
  Version table:
 *** 0.1.6 0

apt-listbugs can be a wonderful tool and can a real PITA :P
let's take this example
#663438 - libmysqlclient: missing symbols __aeabi_d2lz (on armel)
who is using armel here?
or the others that are
marcato come risolto in qualche versione
google translate says
marked as fixed in some version/any version
twa please help me here.

my point is, you should go to every bug report, read it carefully and decide if it affects (or not) your setup/your hardware/your install.

zz

agreed...
9 out of 10 listed bugs are frequently not problems at all.
As you said. You have to check for your own system, and that can be a little tedious.

I will 'confess' to very often just upgrading anyway, disregarding the bug reports, and hope I things go well.

I only do this because I keep frequent Clonezilla backup 'clones'

Hi,
9 out of 10 listed bugs are frequently not problems at all.
well..removed the apt-listbugs and tried the UP4 update.
bad decision...after a while got black screen..no cursor, unable to exit.
had to force computer shut-down.
rebooted..grub is present but the sysm does not boot..even in recovery mode.
tried to reinstall / using the 2012 rc ISO but installation stops at approx 90%.
again unable to exit and forced to power-off.
re-tried 3 more times, same results.
have now installed Solusos (very good), awaiting for the new LMDE iso with UP4.
:x
