Shut down hangs ...

Post by jan_goyvaerts »

Since the installation of UP4 I can't shut down properly any more.

At some point everything hangs. It did so the whole weekend. So it's not just a timeout problem somewhere. Ctrl/alt/F1... is ignored. So I can't get a character session either to check what's going on.

Does somebody already had this ? Or can somebody advise me on where to look to know what the machine is hanging on ?

THX !

Dell Precision M4500 here. Luckily I'm not very often shutting down.

The problem is that I've lost data with this forced shutdown. :-(

I had this only once and it helped pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del.
Can't remember if it took me to Login screen or if it shutdown immediately.
Maybe you could look at /var/log in the files kern.log or Xorg.0.conf.old

I've been having this problem also but have found that if I logout first then shutdown its fine. Slight inconvenience.

I guess that's okay as a temporary workaround. :-)

I'll try it...

Nope. But it seems the title for this thread is wrong. :-)

It's already hanging when logging out.
