Virtualbox cannot install virtual machines in LMDE 201204

Postby shinery on Sat May 12, 2012 11:37 pm

Hi everyone, I am a newbie of LMDE 201204. I install it on my laptop because I am tired of the instability and slow speed of Ubuntu.

It runs very well on my Thinkpad X220i and I love LMDE very much. But there is a problem with Virtualbox. I tried Virtualbox 4.1.8 , Virtualbox-OSE 4.1.8 and Virtualbox 4.1.14-77440~Debian~squeeze, but non of these versions can successfully install a Windows XP virtual machine.

Since my laptop has no CD-ROM, I selected an ISO image as the source of installation. When the window of installation begin, it just stopped at the installation screen without any prompt. The ISO image had ever been installed on virtual machines in Ubuntu for several time so that the image has no problem.

Can anyone help me to solve this problem? Thank you very much!

hi,I found later that LMDE and Virtualbox 4.1.14 both had no problem. It is the XP installation ISO file which has problem. After I changed another one, there has no problem at all.
