LMDE Wrong resolution

I have just installed LMDE201204 XFCE on a virtualbox on my laptop all booted OK but the resolution is stuck on 1024 * 768 my monitor is 1366 * 768. Can someone please advise how to fix this. My Graphics Card is ATI Radeon HD 6770M. I have had a look on the web and can't find any qnswers

Some questions.
1. What is the host OS (the OS you installed Vbox on, windows, Linux and what version) ?
2. Which Vbox do you have (open source license or PUEL) ?
3. Have you installed Vbox tools ?
4. have you activated 2D and/or 3D acceleration ?

You do realize virtualization such as Vbox will never equal that of an actual install for video performance. as it has to virtualize a video card ?

Dvhenry thanks for your reply. The host os is windows 7. I am using VB 4.1.12 open source. I have installed guest additions if that is what you mean by VB tools and I have activated 3D Acceleration. And yes I do know it won't be as quick as doing a proper install.

I have mainly used Ubuntu and Linux Mint. Just in Ubuntu/Linux Mint you install Additional Hardware drivers to rectify this But I can't see anything like this in LMDE XFCE
