LMDE MythTV 0.25

Postby dwalme on Thu Apr 26, 2012 4:45 pm

Hello everyone. I have a newb question here. I searched around and couldn't find a lot of people running LMDE and MythTV so I figured I post a quick question.

My problem is that LMDE pulls from Debian testing repositories and that only includes MythTV 0.24. I see that Debian sid has MythTV 0.25. I found this "repo deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org sid main non-free" that has MythTV 0.25 but there are other dependencies on Debian sid that I need to install it.

Is there an easy way to only get the updates from Debian sid that I need for MythTV 0.25? I tried doing a complete upgrade to the Debian sid sources, but that caused the Mint theming and colors to get out of whack. Plus I'd prefer to still use the LMDE sources for everything else.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Don't bother that package has a circular dependency problem with itself right now.
If you really want 0.25 right now, install it from source.

Spoke too soon on the last post...

from the mythtv howto

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/MythTV-HOWTO

Debian

Build-dependencies for MythTV can be satisfied by adding the following to your /etc/apt/sources.list

# Christian Marillat's packages (mplayer, lame)
Code: Select all
    deb http://www.debian-multimedia.org sid main
    deb-src http://www.debian-multimedia.org sid main

and executing:
Code: Select all
    # apt-get build-dep mythtv
    # apt-get source mythtv --compile

you may have to do the plugins as well, i'm in the middle of compiling myself right now
