I'm new to Linux Mint (I'm using the Debian edition) and a little unfamiliar with the repositories.
APT is a little slow for me and I'd like to select a different mirror, but I have a couple of questions. To start off, here's my sources.list
- Code: Select all
deb http://packages.linuxmint.com/ debian main upstream import
deb http://debian.linuxmint.com/latest testing main contrib non-free
deb http://debian.linuxmint.com/latest/security testing/updates main contrib non-free
deb http://debian.linuxmint.com/latest/multimedia testing main non-free
My questions are:
1. What is packages.linuxmint.com and how is it different from the other repos? I've noticed that when I change the server through synaptic, this is the only one that changes. Is it for Mint specific packages?
2. Is debian.linuxmint.com just a regular Debian mirror? If so, could I just replace this with a different Debian mirror without breaking anything?
Thanks you guys, and sorry for the stupid question.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
