(solved) nvidia and cpu scaling

Postby stripe on Mon Apr 30, 2012 6:28 pm

hi all
just a couple of problems I am having with lmde (cinnamon)

1. how can I remove the nouveau driver and replace it with the correct nvidia one for my card. (to improve video quality) when selecting hardware from the startup menu it just takes me to a webpage which is no help.

2 how do I turn the cpu scaling off and preferably remove it, as it is affecting performance

cheers

Code: Select all
 sudo apt-get install nvidia-kernel-dkms nvidia-glx build-essential nvidia-settings nvidia-xconfig

Afterwards run
Code: Select all
sudo nvidia-xconfig

Reboot. Hope this helps.

Thanks timgood, that installed the drivers perfectly, I now have the best graphics/video playback that I have ever experienced with linux.

Thanks again
