Log in screen?

Postby z06gal on Tue May 01, 2012 10:58 am

I just installed lmde and have everything working but when I go to log out or reboot, it takes me to a console. I have to go "startx" and it takes me back to Mate. How do I get back to the log in so I can select Cinnamon?

it appears you do not have a login manager installed. There are many choices (gdm, mdm, etc), however I personally prefer lightdm. So next time you log in to a session, open up a terminal and just do

sudo aptitude install lightdm

and reboot. you should be good to go then.
the beauty of linux is that the rabbit hole goes as deep as you want it to go.
