KDE SMB Streaming issue. (issue resolved in cinnamon de)

Postby jazzcat on Mon May 07, 2012 5:44 am

I'm having trouble streaming media from my smb shares in KDE. "I get a Your input can't be opened: VLC is unable to open the MRL" and dragon player just freezes and I have to force close.

I initially had problems with streaming from my smb shares in lmde cinnamon de, and followed the instructions here http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=23169&p=315218#p315218 which got it working and it saved my credentials ok.

I then installed kde-all (I switched to kdm as well) and am prompted for a password when I open a smb folder after every reboot. Furthermore, the streaming issue I initially had has returned. I tested logging into cinnamon and all is well in that de, just not kde.

I'm new to LMDE and trying to make the move over from Mint 12 KDE, so I'm still getting used to things being structured a little differently.
