Remove icon from notificacion area/system tray (caffeine)

Postby xingular on Tue May 15, 2012 8:13 pm

Hello everyone,

new in LMDE here :) MATE desktop.

I have installed caffeine (adding karmic repository) and is working ok. But is an old version and it doesn't have the option to "remove the icon from tray/notificacion area".
How can I do this "manually"?

Or: How can I install a more new version?
Or2: Any oder idea to "lock" the screensaver when I'm watching some flash stuff in youtube, for example?

The reason is that I have a 15" screen: I need space!

Thank you so much.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

You don't need Caffeine. ;) Right-click on a panel -> Add to panel -> Inhibit Applet
And remove the Karmic repository ...
My Linux history: Ubuntu 10.04 - 10.10 - LMDE 201109 - UP4 My sources.list/preferences

Thank you for the tip. Actually Karmic repository is removed :)
But I'm searching something more "automatic". The PC is not only used by me, but also by members of the family who they only know how to open the browser :P hehe.
Normally the "problem" is with flash videos like youtube.

It's only a click away. ;) If you insist on Caffeine: It's now located at Launchpad. There a newer versions but they are for Ubuntu not Debian!
I'm not exactly sure what the culprit is. Either it's MATE not reporting correctly to DBus or a problem with gnome-power-manager.
It's not solved in mate-desktop.org versions. I hope it will be.
