Wish to understand LMDE 201204 Xfce Update 'Pointing'

Postby kurtjonulmer on Mon Jun 04, 2012 8:41 pm

Can't find a tutorial or wisdom about 'Pointing' LMDE to more stable or less stable update repositories.

What are my options and consequences?
Where can I find knowledge, before I mess things up by editing etc/apt/sources.list?

Update Manager... Update Pack Info... reports:
'This system is pointing to the Linux Mint Debian Latest repository.' and
'Last Update Pack used by this system - 4'

I'm evaluating Linux Mint LMDE Xfce on Acer Aspire One 532H. (Not without a few other problems...)
Have used several Ubuntu versions and Linux Mint Gnome and LXDE with success.

Thanks,
Kurt

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

For the benefit of anyone looking here for the same answers I'm looking for,
I have found a few things:

"Introducing Update Packs in Linux Mint Debian" by Clem
http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=1781

"Is Mint Debian Stable?"
viewtopic.php?f=141&t=57393&start=0

"LMDE FAQ"
viewtopic.php?f=197&t=91405

Cheers,
Kurt
