VSFTPD SOLVED

Postby exxil on Mon Aug 06, 2012 11:56 am

I just installed VSFTPD from the software manager, but I cannot find it under All Applications :?
It has happened to me before and then it turned out I needed to install some additional package, so I googled to see if this might be the issue here too but I did not find any information about that.

Another weird thing happened and that is that after installing the VSFTPD the software manager started hanging.

....VSFTPD is commandline...therefore it will not appear in the menu....

If you want a frontend for a FTP server, you'd want proftpd with the gadmin-proftpd GUI. As far as I know, vsftpd doesn't have a GUI frontend.
sudo apt-get remove --purge vsftpd && sudo apt-get install proftpd-basic gadmin-proftpd
