How Do I Choose A Font

Please help my tired old eyes. Just installed LMDE Cinnamon and now when I boot the computer I get a very tiny message which tells me that I "failed to choose a font, expect an ugly result." My eyes are not what they used to be, and I cannot read the ?command suggest to choose a font.
Question: How do I choose a font??
